Hello YouTube, Please Come In, Make Yourself at Home
As if we needed any more confirmation that rich media is the hottest ticket on the Internet.
Heather Hopkins has just released new figures showing that within days YouTube will be more popular than the BBC.
Just wait till G figure out how to really monetise that sucker…
It’s baffling how they aren’t properly monetising it already. Pay per view affiliate movies anyone? View on demand documentaries, soaps, music, etc?

Hey Ken
Probably pure greed on the part of the copyright owners. That seems to be the main issue facing them I reckon.
Willingness to pay for the content in its current form and quality is also probably an issue.

Well I think that there’s certainly an opportunity there for copyright owners, rather than locking content up in their vaults. There are quite a few IPTV-on-demand applications out there (Joost for example) but no better company to get involved in this than Google. I’m sure they could bargain for lots of otherwise unobtainable content. Joost is a good example – there’s aren’t too many decent stations on it.
Regarding the quality – well yeah. It’s not great but syndicated video content could be properly compressed and formatted.
Just a thought!
