Sad to think that Penguin is almost 1 year old, and so far Google has only ran it 3 times.

Kinda feel Google lied about the impact of Penguin, and should have been open with site owners affected. Most could have rebuilt a better site over the past year rather than try to recover their sites.

I suspect the total recovery % to date is single- or low double-digit numbers.

Worst part is that the same tactics can still be used by new sites and they wont be touched.  All the wrong messages Google….

  1. Barry ran a poll [1] earlier in the year that showed the same sort of outcome. What that highlights to me is that either the webmaster taking part of the poll don't understand the Penguin algorithm, haven't really tried to address it or it is genuinely hard to get out from under the penalty. I really wish there were more "I tired & failed" recovery posts that were an open book, so everyone can collective learn from it.

  2. Irish search results are just awful. I mostly focus on them for my own benefit but from what I see you're better off taking anything google says with a pinch of salt.

  3. Take a look at what's linking to this site http://www.ritepricekitchens.ie/ . In all f**king fairness! The same site is ranking.

  4. I recovered a personal business site last year from manual penalty and penguin. This is before the day of the disavow, took me almost a year to get it back. When it came back, it was fast. A swift return to most of the rankings but a noticeable lack of traffic for a further few months. Gradually it has returned, I suspect when recovery is finally secured that Google flag the site for a while, lack of trust would be understandable. So once some natural links started coming in again things got back to normal. I have to say tho, that I did receive a good back and forth during the year long process from Google. On more recent recovery projects that communication has completely broken down, which is a shame.
