I'll probably live to regret it, but I'm going to throw my hat in and say I think there was something similar to Panda released on Nov 27.
No idea if there was a Penguin also, but based on the diffs seen in authority sites I'm watching I think quality of content was targeted as part of this update.

Yup. Seeing something similar too. Universally seeing sites in position 6-10 move to 1-5.
Whats weird is that they're all sites that we're hit by first or early versions of panda or penguin. Not sure what that means but definitely seeing movement.
