I just tried to get quotes from a couple of the Irish insurers for my car insurance. Nothing has changed – they all do a terrible job of making me feel good about entering my information. Sad really…

In a perverse kind of way it probably helps them by putting you off shopping around.
Business still thinks like retail: you need them, you want their business, you come and get it.

Yup, some industries never change. In fact, not much has changed in Ireland since you’ve been gone. Some smart companies have done really great things, but the majority still think it’s 2004.
It’s why we don’t market ourselves in Ireland any more. We exclusively focus on the US and we have a few amazing Irish clients who knew what was good for them. I can’t even bring myself to get a quote these days, I leave it to the SO.
PS: I read that post linked, I genuinely thought you had posted it today until I got the comments and saw the date.
