So I do take a broader view, and expect to sell some in future. I rarely hand-reg any domains these days, so the initial cost of acquiring them is far higher. In some cases I've paid $k's for domains, but these are generally in areas that I know have very high industry value.  I also own a lot of geo domains, which are never going to be as valuable as generics.

But I do understand that every domain name is unique, and some do have value. I view some of mine as investments. Plain and simple.

They're often based on particular niches, although I haven't seen flowers come up. An interesting newsletter is TobyClements.com which has daily auctions based on niche.  They send out requests for submissions and then take a commission on any sale.

I've be shocked if there wasn't $10-20k in those flower related domains, but I wouldn't consider myself expert enough to value them.

Some of the stuff that goes on over there is amazing.  People bidding $20k for a site without seeing any stats etc. Many scam sellers also over there who use the worst spam tactics you'll find to pump and dump sites.

Unfortunately Flippa takes no responsibility for due diligence whatsoever, and even when you report dodgy crap it often stays for sale. I'm not a big fan obviously.
