You can't use Tom Cruise or Nicole Kidman to advertise your business without their permission (and huge $$$'s)

The simplest solution would be not to "+1" any pages, products and completely ignore google social network.

Erhmm: When I go to: https://plus.google.com/settings/endorsements
then the checkbox next to the setting "Based upon my activity, Google may show my name and profile photo in shared endorsements that appear in ads." is in fact not checked. I.e. I'm seeing it as opt-in (not as opt-out).
Anyone seeing a different default setting with their account?

I agree, odd that they'd even mention those items in a ToS update.

However, the actual update to the ToS is a good improvement by Google because users didn't get a choice about that before - so now they are improving (which means providing an option to limit) how Google use your photo/name/.. in other commercial contexts.

It won't happen but if every Google user updated their shared endorsements settings to limit Google's use, this would actually be a negative for Google.
