I was talking about the little guys clawing back territory to a business network in Worcester last Thursday. One of the main problems seems to be that the little guys are despondent in the face of such massive presence/marketing. However, I do totally agree with you. If the small operators team up, they will wipe the floor with the big boys on a local scale.

How can you, as little estate agents beat the big boys?

You mimic the strategy used in that article – coordinate your web strategy and work together to achieve high local rankings for your group.
Might be slightly different in real estate since agents are the equivalent of OTAs in travel. You're all regularly selling the same product, and rarely selling your own inventory. But you could still use this tactic to take on national online agencies and beat them at local level.
