I challenge anyone to claim This Google SERP design is NOT deceptively pushing ads….

I challenge anyone to claim This Google SERP design is NOT deceptively pushing ads. That little yellow pill with "Ad" or "Ads" couldn't be any better positioned or styled to create confusion.

(sidenote: this feels like a test version to me given the overall balndness of the page)

  1. Isn't that their USP? It's intentionally deceptive. Higher CTR = More appeal to advertisers. Imagine if it was in bright red?

  2. And the light pink band usually used to segment the top Ads has virtually disappeared, merging the page into one SERP result.

    Its all about the money

  4. OK, so the new thing is that the background color of the ads is white too like for organic results and the little yellow "ad" thing is shown below the headlines (so that you "see" them after the click LOL).

It's caught me more than once, especially on a tablet in landscape mode where, wouldn't you know it…, the fold covered the liddle yellow pill.
